ISAP’25 goes Green

We warmly invite you to take part in our ‘ISAP Goes Green’ initiative! The mindful use of resources and sustainability is central to the planning and implementation of the 2025 International Summer School on Aviation Psychology. In collaboration with PLUS Green Campus, our goal is to organize an inspiring and environmentally conscious event, with your help!

We are committed to organizing the event in accordance with the criteria of the Austrian Ecolabel for Green Meetings and Events.

Green Location – Unipark Nonntal

ISAP’25 will take place at Unipark Nonntal, a modern and sustainability-oriented venue at the University of Salzburg. Located in the heart of the city, just a short walk from the historic old town, the venue is surrounded by green urban spaces and wooded mountains that define Salzburg’s cityscape. With abundant natural light, excellent air circulation, and inviting outdoor areas, Unipark offers an ideal setting for a green event.

Tip: Just 10–15 minutes of sunlight can help boost your vitamin D levels. Try sitting on the rooftop terrace (4th floor) or walking through the green spaces around the building.

Travel Green – Getting to the ISAP Sustainably

From Salzburg Central Station:

  • Trolleybus lines 3, 5, 6, 8, 9, 12 or 25 to “Justizgebäude” or “Akademiestraße”.
  • Regional bus lines 170 and 175 to “Akademiestraße”.

From Salzburg Airport:

  • Trolleybus line 10 to “Rathaus”, then transfer to lines 3, 5, 6 or 8.

Planing your routes:
Your favorite navigation app (e.g. GoogleMaps, Apple Maps) will allow you to plan public transport routes in Salzburg. However, “Salzburg Verkehr” is the official local transport app, you can find it free to download on the App Store and Google Play.

Other eco-friendly options:

  • Park & Ride Salzburg Süd: Leave your car and continue comfortably by trolleybus
  • Bike rental via at – fast, flexible, and emission-free
Book your bike for the entire duration of the summer school and use the Radlkarte or GoogleMaps to navigate. You’ll find several rental stations across Salzburg.
  • Klimaticket or guest mobility ticket: Many hotels include free local public transport

Tip: If you’re staying in Salzburg overnight, public transport is often included in your accommodation thanks to the local tourism tax.

Stay Green – Sustainable Accommodation

There are numerous hotels and hostels located within walking distance of the Unipark. You will find our recommended options as well as the distances to the venue here.

Whenever possible, choose an environmentally certified hotel (e.g. certified with the Austrian Ecolabel, EU Ecolabel or EMAS).

Eat Green – Sustainable Lunch

Throughout ISAP’25, lunch will be served in the cafeteria of the faculty of Natural and Life Sciences (NLW). The cafeteria has been awarded the Austrian Ecolabel for communal catering. That means meals are made using seasonal, regional and fair-trade produce, avoiding single-use packaging, using eco-friendly cleaning agents, and minimizing food waste through careful planning. Vegetarian and vegan options will be available daily.

Act Green – Our Contribution

Our focus is on reducing excess, and we invite you to join us in making the ISAP more sustainable.

USB sticks instead of printouts
Conference materials will be provided digitally on a USB stick to help reduce paper use.

No pre-packed goodie bags
Information brochures, giveaways and stationery will be laid out for you to choose from. Please take only what you need – any leftover items will be reused or returned.

Reusable Coffee Cups
We’ll provide reusable coffee cups for ISAP participants. If you don’t plan on using yours after the event, feel free to return it to the info desk at the end of the week.

How can you contribute to greater sustainability?

  • Return your lanyard at the info desk after the event – we will gladly reuse it for the next ISAP.
  • Exchange contact details digitally – for example via email or LinkedIn instead of printed business cards.
  • Use the marked recycling stations that you can find throughout the Unipark.
  • Bring your own water bottle – Salzburg’s tap water is excellent.
